O pequeno filme de animação Above & Beyond (Acima e mais além) sublinha o valor dos 4 C's - Comunicação, Colaboração, pensamento Crítico e Criatividade. 

A Partnership for 21 Century Skills e a FableVision realizaram um filme original que destaca os benefícios educativos da integração de expectativas elevadas, de conteúdos rigorosos e das Competências fundamentais para o Século XXI que todas as crianças precisam para ter sucesso na escola e na vida.

Este filme conta a história de dois alunos que entendem e demonstram que são capazes de chegar acima e para além das suas próprias expectativas quando combinam as suas competências, os seus talentos e as suas abordagens diferentes para conseguir que as coisas sejam feitas.

Escrito e ilustrado pelo consagrado autor Peter H. Reynolds, Above & Beyond conta-nos como os 4 C's - comunicação, colaboração, (pensamento) crítico e criatividade - complementam e reforçam a instrução escolar tradicional.

Recebido hoje via Albert Boekhorst (de Amsterdam, agora no Brasil), que o recebeu hoje, partilhada por Indira Koneru (na Índia) na lista de difusão da IFLA dedicada a Information and Media Literacy (IIMLS).

Cheguei aqui pelas comunidades de práticas de profissionais de bibliotecas escolares, mais concertamente pela Lista de Difusão e Partilha da ECIS (associação de Escolas Internacionais).

A informação, partilhada por Anne Letain, colega suíça natural de uma cidade com un nome difícil, que trabalha na Universidade da Columbia Britânica, no Canadá, e que dela mesma diz que é "sessional instructor - UBC", num Forum designado "Librarians as teachers", que é parte da secção "Library and Information Science" do Moodle da ECIS - aberto a qualquer interessado, e que descobri graças à mão amiga da Angelina Pereira, há uns tempos.
A novidade, de facto muito útil, foi sugerida por... um dos alunos dela. Escreveu-a na lista hoje, pelas 6:12 da tarde, e cá estou eu (às7:25), noutro canto do mundo, a re-partilhá-la. Não consegui foi forças para traduzir...

With the advent of the World Wide Web and the huge amount of information that is contained there, students need to be able to critically evaluate a Web page for authenticity, applicability, authorship, bias, and usability. The ability to critically evaluate information is an important skill in this information age.



To help you get started with this process with your students, I have designed a series of evaluation surveys, one each at the elementary, middle, and secondary school levels. The elementary, middle, and secondary surveys have been re-designed and updated in February of 2009. The virtual tour, blog, podcast, and teacher site evaluations have been added since 2005 and updated in 2009.

Without adequate media literacy training, kids will not succeed in a 21st-century workplace. The "old school" ways of communicating won't cut it; I've mastered those, and yet now spend each day re-learning how to communicate effectively in this new world order.



Students at many elite schools are learning critical 21st century skills while librarians are eliminated from budget-stressed school districts. The result is what a University College of London study called a "new divide," with students who have access to librarians "taking the prize of better grades" while those who don't have access to school librarians showing up at college beyond hope, having "already developed an ingrained coping behaviour: they have learned to 'get by' with Google."
