$1 Million Gates Grant to Fund Chicago, Aarhus Libraries’ Innovation Partnership | ALA Annual 2013

Entre Chicago (EUA) e Aarhus (Dinamarca) há um grande mar de possibilidades de cooperação. Um prémio da Fundação Gates dá agora 1 milhão de dólares para apoiar a inovação neste campo. As bibliotecas públicas destacam-se globalmente, repensam-se, reinventam-se.O design afirma-se como componente de relevo na transformação dos serviços e dos recursos, incluindo o espaço físico, mas nãos e limitando a tal.
Os resultados serão apresentados numa conferência em Chicago, em Junho de 2014.

The grant is not geared toward international staff exchange, but rather toward overhauling the process of implementing new projects. Both libraries [Chicago Public Libraries - with IDEO - and Aarhus Public Libraries] will put the process to the test by applying it to existing challenges, which may include a reconfiguration of the physical space in the library, as Aarhus is evaluating as they examine the role of play in children’s learning, or creating a new program to address a specific need in the community.
